Hi! I'm Stef 👋 Last September, I started running, aged 41, having not run since school. Things escalated! I'm now training for the London Marathon in October 🙀 Read the full story
Feeling strong today, so I tried to go as fast as I could. The first lap was speedy for me, but I got out of breath and had to briefly stop after the second. Next week I'm running my first 10k race - the London Winter Run. I'm not sure I could keep this pace up for another 5k, so Tom's challenge of beating 45m will be a stretch. We shall see!
No pain to speak of, and no migraine, thank goodness :-)
I'm still finding it bizarre that we're in February now and it's ten degrees outside. Nice for marathon training, but it worries me for the planet.
So that didn’t go so well. I wasn’t feeling too strong on the run, but went at an okayish pace in places. But when I got home I had an aura migraine. I’ve not had one for years. Ugh. 😞
Hilarious that this now counts as a short run 🙀
The plan is to now pick up on a 4 hr marathon plan and extend these weekday runs but keep the pace steady.
Gosh, my knees are aching after Sunday!
Did it! I’m super pleased. This morning I made a plan to run up to the Houses of Parliament and back, around an 18k route. My feet were feeling sore over Denmark Hill, and then suddenly I got a second wind.
I’m listening to Nemone’s Electric Ladyland on my long runs, and at just the right moment Ellen Allien came on with a seamless mix. So I just kept going!
For some reason this hasn’t registered as a half marathon in Strava, but whatever.
I wasn’t killing myself with the pace, stopped for a photo or two, and tried to run at about 5.30 throughout.
So now I’m feeling more confident I should be aiming at the under-four-hours training plan.
Great way to end the week. Thank you for all your encouragement and tips so far!
Oh, and I’ve hit about £650 of my fundraising target this week, which is super and also making me feel less stressed about that side of things.
Awesome. Have a good Sunday. 🏃♂️
Staying in Poole for the night and realised that just up the coast is the small town of Lilliput. I thought it was fictitious!
So a quick 5k there and back before we go and do the day’s activities - visiting Monkey World 🤘
Upping the distance on my short run days, and tried to fit this in before work. A bit of a challenging morning with my boy, but otherwise a good start to the day. Emily is being very patient with me doing these runs when there’s so many things to juggle in the morning. So I’m trying not to feel guilty about doing this in the mornings when it’s not a smooth start with the kids. Think I have to work on this side of the training.
