Hi! I'm Stef 👋 Last September, I started running, aged 41, having not run since school. Things escalated! I'm now training for the London Marathon in October 🙀 Read the full story

Sunny ten to end the day

Sunnies on! Investigating a few new places today - my legs were feeling strong and I’ve felt a bit cooped up today so I went a bit longer than my usual at this point in the week. Think I definitely prefer these evening runs - very different from the Winter!

Local Landmarks challenge (6x HM) complete

21.31 km02:10:126:11 min/kmStrava

I was really impressed by the London Landmarks half marathon organisers on how they reacted to their event being cancelled. It was due to be my second running event so I was pretty disappointed. But they pivoted quickly to the Local Landmarks challenge instead, running for the last six weeks. So I’ve continued to go out for my Sunday long run and used the challenge to explore places I’ve never visited that are within striking distance.

Today I discovered some great new places that felt like being out in the countryside instead of London Zone 2, so I’ll be back now I know I can get out into the woods and a few fields.

I ran slightly longer than what’s showing here - I was using Rungo on the Apple Watch for the first time. It’s clearly a bit janky!

Might be time to change shoes

6.05 km32:475:02 min/kmStrava

How far do you tend to go in a pair of running shoes? I got these in January and Strava is recommending I get a new pair because I’ve run over 700km this year so far. Google tells me all sorts, and it’s hard to tell if there’s life still left in them. They certainly feel okay, I think. Any tips, folks?

I was original aiming for 2020km this year, so at this rate I’ll be going through a pair three times a year!

Catching the light after the rain

8.07 km45:055:19 min/kmStrava

Having an intense time of it at the moment, as I’m sure many folks are. It’s good to see some rain over the last couple of days, but there was a brief window of sunlight through the clouds so I popped out. Glad I did! Now feeling much calmer. Phew.

(Tried to take a photo of myself, it went wrong and then ended up with a happy accident. 🤷‍♂️ )

Strangely quiet now it’s cold and wet again!

6.3 km34:535:13 min/kmStrava

Didn’t get a photo because I’m late for my tea, but wow was it quiet out! Back after a couple of days break after Sunday’s long one and determined not to pause on my progress now that milestone is passed.
